Shut the engine off and make sure fuel is not being siphoned back into the gas tank. Start the engine and let run for a few mins. Just install a clear piece of hose inline. If you going thru fuel pumps for some reason and just cannot figure out why, make sure you check this. Just thought I would pass something along that I learned today. While the VST pump has a vent system to regulate fuel vapor it is not designed to handle this amount of air. We all know this will damage fuel pumps and lean out cylinders. Now when you start up the engine you have engine that is running very lean. Turns out while less is better, to little is a problem.Ī system with no vacuum will siphon the fuel back into the gas tank when the engine is shut down. Had a chance to talk to BRP today about different topics and we started to talk fuel system vacuum. I always believed the less vacuum on the fuel system the better it is for the engine. No matter what service the engine received the valve was always pulled. With outboard boats I have always since 1986 removed the anti siphon valve from the fuel systems.
